About the Chef:
Chef Shawn Nile “THE FAT PASTOR”

Shawn, a Yakima native turned professional chef and former homegrown pastor, has showcased his culinary skills on MasterChef with Gordon Ramsay. His son Asher recently followed suit, competing on MasterChef Junior, highlighting the family’s passion for cooking. Shawn has also had the opportunity to cook for world-renowned chef Massimo Bottura, further establishing his credibility in the culinary world. He adopted the nickname “The Fat Pastor” as a marketing tactic to grab attention and share his culinary philosophy: fat is the true source of flavor. For instance, the richness of a steak is brought out by its marbling, and across many cultures, fat is celebrated for its contribution to vibrancy, vitality, and even health. Modern dietary perspectives increasingly recognize that fat, when consumed in moderation, can be beneficial and flavorful. Shawn’s brand aims to challenge negative perceptions around fat, emphasizing its essential role in cooking and nutrition. |
